ABOUT CA

Who We Serve

California, with its 58 counties and 482 incorporated cities, serves a population of approximately 39 million people. These jurisdictions oversee various aspects of the building industry, including permitting, inspections, and code enforcement. Women play increasingly important roles across the building industry in California. They serve in diverse positions such as:

Permit Technicians: Processing and reviewing building permit applications

Building Inspectors: Ensuring construction meets code requirements

Building Officials: Overseeing departmental operations and policy implementation

Energy Specialists: Focusing on energy efficiency and sustainability in construction

Plan Check Engineers: Reviewing construction documents for code compliance

Fire Inspectors: Ensuring fire safety in buildings and developments

Code Enforcement Officers: Addressing violations of building and safety codes

Project Managers: Overseeing construction projects from start to finish

Architects and Engineers: Designing buildings and systems

Project Managers: Coordinating on-site construction activities.

While historically underrepresented, women are making significant strides in these roles, bringing diverse perspectives and skills to the building industry in California..
